Our Siamese:
We started breeding Siamese is 1990 with 2 cats
that we bought out of The Argus newspaper in Cape Town.
No we did not do backyard breeding but proper registered
breeding with the help of the Registrar of SACC then.
We did not show because all the shows that we attended as
spectators were so unfriendly that we decide that is not our
scene.
We moved to Port Elizabeth in 1993 and soon after met Danie
Marais.
He and Elaine Michel introduced us to the shows in PE seeing
Elaine was the Show Manager then.
Our first show was a disaster because the cat that we thought
was the best in the World were really an ungly duckling but we
love her.
We just carried on showing.
Our friends died and someone had to keep the Club alive so we
are still here 14 years later.
Our cattery name is a combination of Ian' and my name and
surname, I just shuffled the letters around.
We were looking for good quality show cats in South Africa but
because we were so new and not known no-one wanted to sell us a
good Siamese.
So we decided to import. We discovered Okonor cattery on the
internet and the rest is history 4 cats later and we still think
he is the best breeder in the World after a visit to his house
in Buda Pest.
Okonor Brinda won the Title SACC Broodqueen of the Year 2003.
Both of our original Okonor Siamese got their DM titles. |
